Do you belong to a wine club of the month? If so, I would love to hear your thoughts on what you like and/or don't like. I belong to a wine club, but am thinking about trying a different club. I am into red wine more than white and I don't really like cheaply made wine. I like something with good complexity, not a one trick fruit bomb.
Any suggestions?
I am so happy with my current wine club. The wines they a pick each month are great. They focus primarily on red wine which I appreciate. The shipments are always on time. Each newsletter they have sent has been fun and interesting to read.

There are very few wine clubs that I would consider being the best wine clubs. I think many of the companies running these wine clubs are too focused on making money versus providing great wine to their clients. Luckily, there seem to be a couple maybe three organizations that do focus on finding the best wines and sharing them with their members.
It's worth being a member of the top wine clubs as they do select some incredible wines.
One of my favorite things in life is to hang out with friends over a couple of really good glasses of red wine. Some of my friends consider me to be a wine snob. Hard to argue with the given my preponderance to drink high quality wines from California (especially Napa and Sonoma).
What my friends would also tell you is that I enjoy sharing my wine collection with others. Many of my friends have gotten into wine as a direct result of hanging out with me and being exposed to some good bottles. Like much in life, what the masses buy is typically okay, but not great. A relative small amount of folks tend to go after the good stuff
One of my secrets to collecting good wine has been to join a few select wine of the month clubs. While there are plenty of wine clubs to choose from, I made sure to join a few clubs that focus on the upper-end of the market. They typically source low production artisan wines that I am interested in. Shhh don’t tell anyone my secret.
Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love baseball. They always think I love the World Series, which I like fine, but usually isn’t required viewing in my house.
Baseball is fun for me because of the daily grind and year to year change that you experience. More so than other sports, it feels like baseball becomes part of your daily life. Maybe that’s because it’s daily for 6 months and long (3+ hours) but seeing players come up from a teams farm system and eventually become stars and household names is among the most fun parts of being a baseball fan.
So why do I like this time of year? The off-season is the time when more trades are made and when the foundation is laid for the next season. I don’t love MLB’s financial system, but given that I’m not a big football fan and the NBA is locked out…..that’s a topic for another blog though!
